Bielak-Hartman Concert Master’s Chair
Ottawa—Tuesday 14 November 2017—Shneur M. Bielak established Neoteric Developments Inc. to provide Ottawans with innovative, luxury homes featuring integrated, leading-edge technology. But not only is Mr. Bielak a builder of luxury homes, he is a trained liturgical and professional vocalist, and community builder, committed to supporting great, live orchestral music in our City.
Today, the Ottawa Symphony is excited to announce Mr. Bielak—with his company—has committed to sponsoring the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra’s Concert Master Chair and accepted to lead the Ottawa Symphony Community Ambassador’s Circle. This two-year commitment will support the key position of Concert Master for the Ottawa Symphony. Neoteric Developments Inc.’s support for the Ottawa Symphony is the single-largest donation to be made in support of our city’s Symphony Orchestra.
As the Ottawa Symphony’s first Community Ambassador, Mr. Bielak is committed to seeing Ottawa’s own orchestra thrive. Mr. Bielak possesses a passion for the arts. With extensive professional vocal and liturgical training (as a tenor), he shared his talents as a Cantor for 9 years at Ottawa’s largest synagogue. His first album entitled “Gratitude” is still circulated and available on iTunes. Mr. Bielak was the Recipient of the Robert E. Osborne Memorial Award for excellence in the study of religion at Carleton University where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts.
Mr. Bielak grew up in a musical home. He has been married for over ten years to Tracy Hartman. The couple are blessed with their 5-year-old daughter, Sophia, whom they are eager to provide with opportunities and access to live, classical music.
Mr. Bielak’s chair sponsorship marks the beginning of an exciting chapter as the Ottawa Symphony builds new bridges between the stage and our listeners. “A named chair is a tremendous honour in any orchestral musician’s career. I’m deeply moved and grateful to Mr. Bielak for his family’s generosity and encouragement to me and all our Orchestra’s members,” said the Ottawa Symphony’s Concert Master and internationally sought-after performer and pedagogue, Mary-Elizabeth Brown.
“Shneur’s leadership is an admirable example for peers in the business community,” added Robert W. Peck, President of the Ottawa Symphony Board of Directors. Mr. Bielak looks forward to welcoming other community builders with an interest in live classical, orchestral music—and in the future of our vibrant, sophisticated city—to join him in this donor’s circle.
The benefits of Neoteric Developments Inc.’s sponsorship go beyond the Concert Master’s chair to support other initiatives, as well. The Ottawa Symphony Orchestra will hold an Excerpt Master Class for select Orchestra members, lead by guest artist, Olivier Thouin, Associate Concert Master of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. This class will be held on Saturday, November 18th; all members of the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra, as well as members of the Ottawa Youth Orchestra are invited to attend.
