Parker Clements

Parker Clements, baritone

Originally from O’Leary, Prince Edward Island, baritone Parker Clements completed his Master’s in Vocal Literature and Performance at Western University and his Diploma of Operatic Performance at the University of Toronto, where he studied with Wendy Nielsen. He is currently a member of the Canadian Opera Company Chorus and the Tafelmusik Chamber Choir.

A frequent soloist, Parker’s recent concert performances include Bach’s St. John Passion, Brahms’ Requiem, and Orff’s Carmina Burana. He has also performed Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder at the Bathurst Chamber Music Festival and Handel’s Messiah with the Confederation Centre Chorus and members of the PEI Symphony.

On the operatic stage, his role credits include Creonte in Haydn’s L’anima del filosofo, Figaro in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Belcore in L’elisir d’amore, Malatesta in Don Pasquale, Escamillo in Carmen, Edmund in Jonathan Dove’s Mansfield Park, Don Giovanni, and Des Grieux in Massenet’s Le portrait de Manon. He has also performed the role of The Lecturer in Dominick Argento’s solo baritone opera A Water Bird Talk.

Parker has performed with Soundstreams’ New Composer Workshop, Tapestry Songbook, Opera by Request, Under the Spire Music Festival, and the Bathurst Chamber Music Festival. He enjoys collaborating with composers on new vocal works and exploring how the medium of opera is evolving. He is also a regular performer and gin drinker with Opera Revue, as well as a cribbage enthusiast.
